Hot & Cold: guess the word by meaning

The bot picks a secret word and chat feels its way toward it: every guess is ranked by how close it is in meaning. “Cat” is closer to “dog” than to “tractor”. Rank 1 wins, and the OBS overlay shows who is closest. The game uses a Russian dictionary.

The hot and cold scale

The rank is the word’s position in the dictionary sorted by closeness to the secret word. Lower is hotter.

What it looks like in chat

viewer1: car → #2,814
viewer2: sea → #412
viewer3: beach → #37 🔥 new best
💡 Hint: “sand” is #9
viewer2: vacation → #1 🏆 guessed in 4 min 12 s

How it works

It runs on word vectors: each of 50,000 Russian words is a list of numbers based on the texts it appears in. Close vectors mean close meanings. The bot ranks the whole dictionary against the secret word, so every guess gets a fair rank: 1 wins, up to 50 is hot, up to 300 is warm, then cool, cold and ice.

A game that runs itself

Rounds start automatically while you are live. If chat goes quiet, hints arrive: a word closer than the best guess, then the letter count and the first letter. The winner earns channel XP and points, and scouts who set a closeness record get a smaller reward.

Frequently asked questions

How is it different from Word Guess?

Word Guess shows a letter mask. Hot & Cold shows no letters: chat guesses by meaning, moving from cold words to hot ones.

Is it like Contexto?

Same idea: words ranked by closeness in meaning. Here the whole chat plays together, the ranking is on stream and wins earn channel XP.

Which plan do I need?

Hot & Cold is on Ultra. The OBS overlay has four layouts and three themes.
